Presents Project:
Give A Child A Chance
Being based in
Mississippi, we know first hand just how devastating Hurricane Katrina
was. We were unable to evacuate, because just hours before Katrina hit,
Baby Jordan was born. It took three days to cut through the fallen trees,
to clear the carport and driveway so we could free our cars to leave our
home for a safer place.
After
gathering supplies, part of the family returned to help the devastated
communities start to rebuild.
Then came
Give A
Child A Chance…
Our hearts went out to the children
who were suffering emotionally, not understanding what had happened.
Having worked with children for over thirty years, we were motivated to
minister to them in a way that would help bring them through their
catastrophic experiences.
Give A Child A Chance
became our vision.
This multi-faceted project, like no other,
gives the children a chance to express their pain, grief, fears and
anxiety through their own survival experiences in a healthy, creative way.
How…
Therapy is an expensive tool, and in many
cases professional help is unavailable. In this project, children are
given a self-help method that enables them to cope with their changing
world. The best therapy is their talking about what they have been
through. This is why it is our goal to give these children who have
experienced this devastation a voice by way of cameras, journals, and some
challenging character building materials.
The Concept...
Having them write of their experiences and
take pictures to illustrate their stories.
The Result…
Children who are better able to express their
feelings and handle the challenges they are facing by sharing their
stories with others.
Giggle Bites… The web and newsletter from
Giggle & Grow™, will publish these photos and stories of the children who
wish to send them back for publication.
Give A Child A Chance
will be filmed for
documentation of this project for the development and follow-up of
progress. Special stories will be chosen to be apart of our Giggle & Grow
television productions.

This is how it works.
Phase one…
Giggle & Grow is collecting project packs
(back packs) filled with age appropriate goodies such as: disposable
cameras (with free developing), writing pads, sketch pads, photo journals,
scrapbook journals, pens, pencils, colors, coloring books, and a few added
goodies along with a postage paid envelope for returning their stories to
us for publication.
Phase two…
The Giggle & Grow team will meet with the
children where they are; schools, churches, shelters, community centers,
etc. Through challenging character building programs using puppetry,
magical illusions, drama, and balloon sculptures, the team will entertain
and explain the Project Packs. They will then deliver the
project packs to the children.
Phase three…
Giggle & Grow is soliciting volunteers
to help in distribution of the packs and then in collecting and
documenting the stories for filming and publication.
Those eligible for receiving a project
pack…School age children (survivors of disaster). The younger children
will receive an age-appropriate project pack. Ages 8-16 will receive
Camera project pack.
How Individuals can help…
There are many children out there to be helped. We do not want any child
to be left out. However, the task is overwhelming. We need your prayers
and financial support, and volunteers for Phase three.
How Corporations / Organizations
can help…
We need businesses such as yours to help
provide items listed above in Phase one. We also need cash
donations for fuel and traveling expenses for those distributing these
products. We accept checks, cash, and credit cards.
Giggle & Grow
is a non-profit organization incorporated in the state of Mississippi,
operating under 501(c) 3 status. Our team has been ministering across
America and overseas since 1970. We are dedicated to producing
character-building products and programs for children and youth. Our board
of directors includes professional counselors, therapists and ministers.
